The Process

Let’s take a peek into the world of visual synthesis
PHASE 1

Discovery

I hear something inspiring, often a podcast or a song, and I listen to it over and over and over again. I then choose a clip from the audio that I find the most poignant.

PHASE 2

Exploration

I transcribe the words and get a sense of the tempo and cadence. Then I research the heck out of the message being conveyed. I return to the audio clip, now with all the context from my research, and again listen to it on repeat.

PHASE 3

Creation

I pick a main character, a central metaphor and an object to personify, that will visually accompany the audio. Then I brainstorm and prototype the other supporting visuals.

PHASE 4

Implementation

The final visuals are drawn, cut, glued, and taped. Using the transcript as a guide, I take hundreds of individual pictures, moving the visuals around as I go. I put the pictures and the audio together – and voila!
